Months have passed since their last adventure with the Aspects, but Lauren and her friends still aren’t used to their new lives, which are growing more and more complicated by the day. A riot at a supposedly peaceful meeting makes it clear that the Aspects aren’t pleased having a thirteen-year-old girl as their Seer, but Charity has worse things to deal with. Someone has been kidnapping Aspects, and its up to her to get them back. Aided with a pair of strange siblings, she must come to terms with her own fear if she ever hopes to be truly strong.
Meanwhile, Quinn and Max are preoccupied with training, having struck a dangerous deal with an Aspect they’re not entirely sure they can trust. The world of the Aspects is a strange one, and Quinn still isn’t sure he wants to be a part of it, but he no longer has a choice.
Lauren, left alone, finds herself helped by someone she never thought she could like – Ophelia – as the two girls break off on their own. Together, they’re determined to find the cause of the Aspect’s strange behavior and are convinced that it has something to do with Tenacity, who has been missing ever since the night Wisdom died. But it is becoming painfully clear that Lauren is a mortal among powerful Aspects, and she is beginning to wonder if she still belongs in the world of her friends.
The five of them find themselves deep in trouble and scattered across the globe. With shifting alliances and vengeful immortals, nothing and no one can be trusted in this game of lies. Suddenly, Lauren and her friends are running against the clock to reunite and save the Aspects—if they even deserve to be saved.
